I had many problems getting it rebuilt after the upgrade. Had some flaky null pointer exceptions so I wanted to wipe and restart. Deleting multiple messages at one time hangs, sometimes deleting goes through, but the message is still there. I feel like I need to wipe and start over to see if it fixes the problem. I guess it could be the theme being used, but errors with messaging are enough to try a downgrade, and upgrade again.
Other htan that, the system is awesome for memory, speed and everything else you can wish for. I have just upgraded the OS on my Storm to 4. Hello, Ive been battling for some time with the blackberry os for my Storm. Im with Telus and have a BB As a current official os telus has been using v4. I have read about. After I installed 4. I have been experiencing the same issue since adding version. But mine extends beyond just SMS.
Has anyone gotten back to you with a fix? No sound or vibration when receiving sms. I been getting that alot with mine, It would keep saying media error on the screen. So I took the battery out and rebooted and the sound comes back lol. Does anyone have an alternate file location? I have had all issues you guys have had.
I found that when the restoration came, it flaked out my BB. I finally said screw it and did not do a backup. I started fresh. No external applications loaded. I did that on my own later. Just make sure you back up your contacts.
If I were you I would download the latest officially released OS 5 version of the blackberry software. It works like a champ and there is no reason to still be trying to use a 4. The installation of the new OS took way to long and did drain the battery rapidly was at work and forgot my charger. So far the new OS seems to have cured most of the issues that I was having such as lag time, freezing, dropped call, and screen views.
There still seems to be a slight lag time between certain applications but no where near as long as with the previous OS. I can say that I am much happier now with my storm than I have been in previous weeks.
I was this close to running out an buying the Iphone! PS — I did not loose any contacts, email accounts, photos, or music must have caught a break there however I am frustrated because I did not keep a few of the codes needed for programs I have purchased and will need to repurchase in order to get them to work in full access mode. I hope everyone has good luck with the new OS and only time will tell if it was worth the long wait! On the crackberry website it says the old OS needs to be deleted after the new one is installed.
Does anybody know how to do this? Our version was different than the UK version. Here in America, our version is for Verizon, and I guess we got a different update. My apologies for thinking that all the versions were the same. According to the store where I got the Storm. There have been only a couple of people who came in and had the same problem as I. Had to bring in my old phone and had the contacts reloaded. Also, I did not have to get rid of things to make space even though i was asked to.
I just did a soft reset and that gave me enough space. My girlfriend did the same thing. Will deleting the old OS give the Storm more memory on my phone. I downloaded the new application and it killed my memory. I was running at 44 and now it is Two Storms.
Downloaded to both OA. Upgraded from. Also did not fix the glitch which cuts the phone off when you put it in the holster while on a call using the bluetooth headset. Love the new firmware! Camera, media, and browser are all much faster. Accellerometers work beautifully and screen rotation is much faster and smoother. Have not locked up my blackberry yet, whereas it used to happen three or four times a day. Definitely a must-have for Storm users. I had no loss BB messeger and phone contact, appointment, 3rd application, even sms and email histroy conversation when I upgrade my storm from 75 to …the only missing was history conversation in BB messanger.
I had just decided to trash my Storm when this came out. I did the backup on the computer, and it did restore my contacts, however I had to load a prior backup to get my calender, memo, and task list back. My biggest problem now is that I lost all my apps, and in addition lost my browser and application loader, so I cant even get to the internet to get my stuff back! I downloaded the upgrade—meant to do it from the desktop but did it from the phone, and it only took about 45 minutes.
At first it told me I had to delete 22 MB of data to download it, so I moved some pics from the phone to my card, and it still said I needed to remove 22 MB. So I just took out the battery and tried again, and everything worked fine. This is my second BB Storm. I turned the first one in because it was performing so badly. I was about to turn this one in for another one and when then third one acted up, get a new phone altogether non BB Storm.
So hopefully this will solve the problems. The slowness I could live with, but that would be nice if this upgrade fixes that too. Please someone help me with this one because SA Vodacom does not have the download link to the above mentioned update.
